Greetings~

There is in Zion IL what used to be a working nuclear power plant right on the shores of Lake Michigan. The building is still there, but it’s long been shut down. Not sure what ever happened to the waste from this plant … and I’d be almost afraid to find out, at this point.

And speaking of fear … I’d love to get out there and get some shots of the facility, but I’m afraid if I do I’ll be labeled as a terrorist or something; maybe I just need to man-up and get out there and do it.

Anyway, if you travel due east about a mile from the plant you’ll see this scene just off Sheridan Rd. in Zion, where the feeder lines stream out from the plant before taking their zig-zag course over northeastern Illinois. It’s actually very pretty out in the woods of this scene as well.

The Hardly Visible Path

Greetings~

The air is full of dawn and spring.
Tell me …
Did you ever hear
The ancient songs,
Sitting in your rocker
Waiting for your tea?

Today’s shot is representative of a theme that I’ve been trying to incorporate into my work lately; the mix of man and nature and how we as a species can really mess things up. It’s a thumbprint of how we can totally screw up the scenic beauty but yet create odd beauty or, more often, uglyness at the same time.

*****

I hope you all enjoyed The Sandcarvers video, “Boffyflow and Spike” that I posted yesterday. My wife (a Sandcarver herself, and the sexiest one, too, I might add) had a really cool time putting this together. It’s fun when you can collaborate with someone and create something cool in the process. I kind of know now a little of how she must feel when she’s writing songs with the band.

Listen to the sounding sea
I am the wind that wavers
If i should die, think only this of me
That I’d over-prepared
When i came back to earth

Greetings~

I have come out of the desert
Unworthy and unknown
He and I met
Children, we were
We threw away the leaves
Which one will be
Naming the wind

Goodness … this shot is a year old, almost to the day. A little over a year, actually. I love digging into the archives and finding forgotten gems.
