Greetings~

No, as a matter of fact, I don’t think it’s unusual to pay homage in a photo to a movie I’ve never even seen! I did see the trailer for “300″ though, so I think that counts for something. I was very intrigued by the look of the film and when I found a preset called “300 Look” for Lightroom I was eager to check it out. I think it’s pretty cool, although it is an effect that one would want to use very sparingly, I think … it could turn out to be just … too, ya know?

Another shot from our “shopping” trip to Evanston, which I first blogged about yesterday. We parked in that 12 story garage I seem to get to so often and I snapped this off as we where leaving.

Two shots, actually, as you can see. Well, same thing only different. One shot processed two ways, as this is another in my “Compare and Contrast” series.

My wife and I spent a Saturday in Evanston a couple of months ago doing some shopping. Actually, I dropped her off so she could do some shopping. I brought my gear and went out for some shooting. I headed over to the campus of N.U. where I work. I captured this at the lagoon … sorry, the “Central Utility Plant Cooling Retention Pond.” These things have official nomenclature and all, don’t you know?

Anyway, this spot is just loaded with prime photography locations and it was nice to get out here and do some actual shooting for myself, as opposed to work related projects. Not that work related projects aren’t great but it’s just different, ya know?

Lonely Context

A little spot I found off of Lake Michigan, nestled just over what I assume used to be a dune. Cool spot to relax and listen to the sound of the waves just beyond the rise. This was a hand held, three exposure bracketed shot, which was merged in PhotoMatix.

Situation or Feeling

This is one of my two or three favorite spots on the campus of Northwestern University. It’s over by the lagoon on the east side of campus. There’s a paved foot trail which winds around the length of the lagoon, but this is off the path, nestled behind some very tall bushes and the low hanging boughs of this willow. After a long day it’s nice to stop here and just recharge for a while before hopping on the train home.
