Greetings~

When one wasn’t checking out the great tunes at this year’s Indianapolis IrishFest, one could gaze skyward and spy lighter than air objects. This was kind of a mild thrill for me, as I’d never seen the Goodyear blimp in person before … then I got over it and went back to photographing the fabulous bands!

This little guy decided to alight on the neck of the bass of one Mr. Chris Trotier of The Sandcarvers while they were setting up for their show at the Indy Irish Fest this past weekend … guess he had a song in his heart, eh? This is a first; a macro bug shot from onstage!

If you were able to check out my new gallery of Indy Irish Fest photos posted yesterday you saw quite a few shots of the after-party Irish Session, where many of the festival performers gathered late into the wee hours, just to jam. This is the hotel lobby in which that took place.

Greetings~

The 2009 Indy Irish Fest definitely lived up to the hype and then some, many times over! This was my first time attending and covering this wonderful fest for PaddyRock Radio … and now I can’t wait to go back next year! The list of entertainers was just outstanding this year and this time around I was able to capture Mother Grove, The Mickey Finns, two outstanding sets by The Sandcarvers and a wonderful after-party Irish Session in the lobby/bar of the Omni Severin Hotel, which carried on into the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Yes, the weather was gorgeous, the music was smoking and the Guinness was flowing, sure.

A huge Celtic Camera and PaddyRock thanks to all the performers and festival staff for making this a weekend to remember!

Oh, one more thing; welcome aboard to to Aaron Fasting, brand new drummer for The Sandcarvers. This was his debut performance with the band and his skill on the skins is something to behold, sure!
