Greetings—

Part ten of my series, “The Autumnal Purity,” captured at the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve. Once again we’re looking almost right into the middle of Hutchinson Ravine. Maybe come Spring I’ll muster up enough courage to actually go down into the ravine’s … the slope’s are very steep and, as it was my first time here, I didn’t want to chance it.

The Autumnal Purity

Greetings~

Today, I bring you the first in a series of shots I’m calling “The Autumnal Purity — Openlands Lakeshore Preserve.”

Located about 25 miles north of Chicago, the preserve is basically a combination of old trails, ravines and wooded area with newly added acreage recently restored (and still being so) after the devastation caused by the u.s. army and the former fort Sheridan. As most of you know, the u.s. military is the single largest polluter not only in this country, but the world as well, so it was good to see the closing of this base that was so close to residential areas and a plan implemented to clean up the mess.

I ran into a very nice gentleman who filled me in on these facts and one more as well: apparently, this was also a former (?) Nike missile silo location … is there any doubt that our so called “leaders” are certifiably psycho/sociopathic?

View from Google maps here.

More photographs from the Openlands Lakeshore Preserve in the days ahead.
