My thanks to this lovely for taking pity on me and remaining still for a few moments. She was performing her role as a Faerie at Ren Faire this past summer and I think she knew I wanted the shot. This gave me the chance to get the focus exactly where I wanted it; the right eye.

In Other Words …

Some lovely shots of Winter in Holland by Wouter Brandsma, which he dubs “Winter Reminder.” Timely, I think, as we here in southeastern Wisconsin just got dumped on with 16″ of snow the last two days. Oh, and now that the snow has moved through the area … bitter cold temperatures. It was a whopping -8 degrees Fahrenheit when I woke up this morning. Wouter makes Holland sound real good at this point.

That just about wraps things up here at “The Way I See It” for 2008. Many things beckon in the next couple of weeks: solstice (today!), christmas, new year, family and friends.

Of course, there are the tasks which are not quite as fun: clearing off hard drives, burning disks, general computer and web site maintenance, a looming magazine deadline and, of course, making sure we’re dug out from all of that snow I mentioned and any more that will be headed our way. And there will be more … it’s Wisconsin!

So, with that, I extend wishes for the best of the season to your and yours. See ya in a couple weeks.

Today seems as good a day as any to begin a series of animal shots. Here we have a Falcon from the RenFaire. Tomorrow I’ll trot out some shots I took at a recent visit to the Racine Zoo. Also, be looking for a new gallery of Sandcarvers photos which I’ll be posting this weekend from their Hallowe’en blowout show last week.

No posts for the last two days, as the flu has been kicking my ass. I’m betting there’s also a touch of pneumonia going on as well. Body aches. Fever. Can’t breathe, with a burning, hacking cough that just downright hurts. I’ve spent most of my time in bed, with lot’s of juice, tea (Echinacea, licorice root, fennel, lemongrass, eucalyptus & Bi Yan Pian) and chicken soup courtesy of my lovely wife.

Better … but still feel like crap, though.
