Greetings~

My daughter, Stephanie, was among the many in the audience who joined Seven Nations on stage at the Irish American Heritage Center‘s IrishFest 2008 in Chicago. It was a fun day, indeed, as many family and friends were on hand while I covered the event for PaddyRock Radio.

If you missed this gallery the first time around which, in addition to Seven Nations also features The Young Dubliners, Solas and many more well, you’re in luck; you can check it out by clicking this little link right here!

Seven Nations with The Sandcarvers

Shank Hall in Milwaukee WI was the place to be last Friday night if you’re a fan of Celtic rock, as The Sandcarvers and Seven Nations tore it up for a sold out, capacity house.

The lads and lassie from The Sandcarvers got the evening rolling with a no holds barred set. They lit it up from the moment they hit the stage.

From songs off of their previous two albums to a couple of brand new ones, this was a killer set from start to finish. Their older material is sounding fresher then the day it was released, as the band continues to add subtle little twists to them to keep things interesting and vibrant.

And the new stuff? All I can say is, “Wow!” The band just continues to grow in their songwriting and arranging capabilities. It’s been a joy to watch this band mature over the past few years and this set really has me looking forward to a new release from them.

Next up were the one and only Seven Nations.

These guys have been around for years and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing them many times in the past. You would think that a band with such a storied history would tend to mellow with age. I’ve seen bands of this stature get to a certain point and think they can just mail it in.

Not these guys!

A rousing and stomp filled 90 minutes is what these veterans provided and the crowd responded accordingly. I, along with the capacity house were treated to a show that left us all wanting more by the end.

Thanks go out to Bryce, A.J., Jeff, Tony, Chris and Raven of The Sandcarvers; Kirk, Struby and the rest of the Seven Nations boys; Pete, Dave and all the rest at Shank Hall.
