Where I go dreaming …
I never knew the earth had so much gold
I saw the archangels
Through my tree this night
My soul is a dark ploughed field

Spring Bluff Forest Preserve, Winthrop Harbor IL. This was taken at sunset. I think if conditions are right in the morning I’ll head back out here for a sunrise shot … spotted what looks like a cool location just south of this one last time out.

Hang no wreath

Oh, my … what a great show last night. I had the privilege of shooting Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash and Grand Disaster. I had almost forgotten just how good BSOJC are, having not seen them for quite a long time … last time being 2002, if memory serves, and young turks Grand Disaster have certainly developed into a wonderful band themselves, so if you haven’t had the chance yet, do get out and see one or both of these fine acts soon. Two top notch bands, fer sure. Photos of the show to follow soon, so stay tuned!

It’s “Compare and Contrast” day here at The Celtic Camera, where I present you with duplicate photos of a scene, the only difference being that one is black and white and one is color. Me being me … I prefer the B&W. I’d love to hear which one you think is best. Let’s see which one wins out, shall we?

Greetings~

Over the river they beckon to me
They came and took me by the hand
As a naked man I go
While I listen, discreetly numb
This is the song of youth

Once again, Spring Bluff Forest Preserve, Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.

I’m putting the finishing touches on the photos from the Grand Disaster/Barkeeps show this past weekend. They should be ready in a day or two, so stay tuned!

I had a dream and I awoke with it
Woven of human joys and cares
My mother taught me that every night
I shall see a star
there in the darkness
Gather and ask

The Hardly Visible Path

Greetings~

The air is full of dawn and spring.
Tell me …
Did you ever hear
The ancient songs,
Sitting in your rocker
Waiting for your tea?

Today’s shot is representative of a theme that I’ve been trying to incorporate into my work lately; the mix of man and nature and how we as a species can really mess things up. It’s a thumbprint of how we can totally screw up the scenic beauty but yet create odd beauty or, more often, uglyness at the same time.

*****

I hope you all enjoyed The Sandcarvers video, “Boffyflow and Spike” that I posted yesterday. My wife (a Sandcarver herself, and the sexiest one, too, I might add) had a really cool time putting this together. It’s fun when you can collaborate with someone and create something cool in the process. I kind of know now a little of how she must feel when she’s writing songs with the band.
